Christmas 2012

We traveled to Kansas for Christmas.  It had been an entire year since we had been back to Ark City.  We enjoyed lazy days at Mom's house and special time with family and tradition in Topeka.  Rick helped Uncle Jim fix some family recipes, including noodles, dressing, and meatballs.  The time flew by way too fast!

The Rest of 2011

Seems like life slowed down a bit in the Fall of 2011.

September

Sarah attended the national conference for the Financial Planning Association in San Diego.

We took a trip to Kansas to visit Mom and Susie, Grandma, and Uncle Jim

October

Rick and Dan took a motorcycle trip through the Magruder Corridor into Montana.

We scouted around Orofino for Rick's white tail.

December

Remember that FPA conference I attended in San Diego in September?  Well that's when it all started...when I met Caleb.  Caleb recruits for financial planning firms all around the country.  Turns out, real financial planning jobs really do exist, if one is willing to move away from Boise.  Caleb was recruiting for a position with Rick Kahler in Rapid City, South Dakota.  South Dakota?  NO WAY, we thought.  But after some research into the position and Rapid City, we realized what a great opportunity this was.  Just before Christmas, we flew to Rapid for the interview and did a little sightseeing in the Black Hills as well.

After five days in Rapid, we flew on to Kansas for Christmas.

Christmas 2010

I was fortunate to be able to spend 17 days in Kansas spanning Christmas and my 37th birthday - the last Christmas and Birthday I get to spend with my dad.

Fall Catch-Up

Let's see...this fall Sarah...

~o~ Attended the Boise State - Oregon State game and then watched it twice on ABC.

~o~ Put her Wrangler on the market.

~o~ Stayed home while Rick went moose hunting in Alberta, CA, and had a great time...fishing.

~o~ Attended the Financial Planning Association Residency Program in Lake Arrowhead, CA.

~o~ Neglected her Jade tree long enough that weird fungus started growing in it.

~o~ Stayed home while Rick went to Japan. What a place!

~o~ Flew to Kansas for a whirlwind trip that included another Oklahoma State football game,

...a trip to Lake of the Ozarks (Sarah's first in about 10 years, and Rick's first ever.)

...a few days to enjoy the gorgeous fall color in Ark City,

...and a 20-hour road trip to get her new Jeep back to Boise.

~o~ Stayed home while Rick hunted White Tail in northern Idaho.

~o~ Met her sisters in Kansas for Ed & Karen's 15th annual family Christmas party.

~o~ And finished out the fall season in Boise with a little Holiday spirit.

Labor Day Weekend in Kansas

I spent Labor Day weekend in Kansas visiting family. It was quite a whirlwind trip.

Saturday we went to the OSU football game and watched them crush what was referred to as a "nobody" team. Washington State is not a "nobody" where I live! But it was fun to see the Cowboys win!

Then on Sunday, my mom and I drove to Topeka for the day to celebrate my Grandma's birthday. My uncle Jim made the best biscuits and gravy I have ever tasted - no kidding. We had four desserts to choose from! Then we went to my aunt Anne's new house, and I finally got to meet Camelot.

Three generations.

Of course, I spent time playing with Susie too.

Kansas Visits

I've been able to visit Kansas twice so far this year. The first was for my Dad's birthday in April. Mom and I drove to Topeka for a day and got this great shot with Aunt Anne and Grandma.

The second trip was for the 4th of July. Both of my cousins, Scott and Paul, were going to be there, so I decided to go too. I spent a whole week hanging out in Ark City with my parents and Susie, catching up with old highschool friends, and seeing all the Kuhns in Topeka.

I didn't take many family photos for some reason, but a did get a shot of Paul and his little girl, Stella...

...and a great one Scott and me with Grandma.

On my last day, Mom, Dad and I drove by this beautiful field of sunflowers on our way home from lunch. I love Kansas.
